Highlights for this week

  • Holiday Craft Fair Date Moved to Saturday, November 10 @ Gonzales American Legion Hall (419 Fifth Street)
  • (Saturday Night) November 3: Turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed!
    • Saturday: Stop by one of our local hardware stores to pick up fresh batteries for your smoke/carbon monoxide detectors & purchase a new filter for your heater before you use it for the first time this season (saves energy and sneezes!)
    • You can recycle used batteries at the Johnson Canyon Landfill, True-Value Hardware store, or the Monterey County Free Library in Gonzales (never put them in the trash or recycling carts!)
  • Sign up your non-profit group for a fundraiser opportunity at the annual Holiday Lights Festival to be held on Saturday, December 1 (Applications can be picked up at Gonzales City Hall. Questions? contact
  • Compost your Jack 'O Lantern or put it in your greenwaste curbside collection cart (no paint, no lights, no candles please)
  • November 7: Alliance on Aging "Coffee & Laughter" (see slide for details)
  • Connect with Fairview Middle School through their monthly newsletter for parents 
  • Saturday, November 17: FREE Community Flu Clinic (11 AM to 2 PM @ Taylor Farms Family Health & Wellness Center 850 5th Street)
  • November 3 is the last day to participate in the FREE car and small truck recycling program at all three Salinas Valley Recycles locations (including Johnson Canyon Landfill in Gonzales)
